While I've been riding around on my Met, I feel like I can tell a difference between the people who ride for fun and those who ride for necessity. It seems like the happy, smiling, friendly with the horn are the one who are likely to be members of these types of forums but every once in a while, I'll pass someone who looks miserable riding and then I feel like that's their only form of transportation. I was wondering, have you all noticed these differences?
What are your other reasons for riding a scooter? Personally, cheap gas but above that it's fun. I have the best parking on campus without having to pay for a ridiculously expensive parking permit and I love being able to park wherever I want at stores.

I have been wanting a two wheeled vehicle for a long time but I was not really sure whether it was for me or not. Since in Florida, if you want to ride anything that is over 50 cc you need a motorcycle endorsement, I decided to get a 49 cc scooter to see if I actually liked riding two-wheeled vehicles without going through the hassle and expense of getting the motorcycle endorsement. In Florida, you MUST take and pass the motorcycle course to get your endorsement and the course is not cheap. My real concern was that I would have troubling balancing on a scooter or motorcycle because, quite frankly, I am a bit clumsy. To my utter amazement, balancing on the scoot was the easiest thing for me. Once I got better at turning, I felt more confident on the scoot. Perhaps someday I will get my motorcycle endorsement, but that does not mean I am giving up my Met. It is more fun than an adult should legally be allowed to have. I love riding it, I love going places with it and I want to keep doing it. So, that was the long answer to the question, the short answer now is for fun. And I am always smiling on my scoot and in a better mood after a ride. ;D

I tell myself, others and the wife that I bought my met because of the gas prices. Thats just a cover up, I really enjoy riding and have wanted to for a very long time. I am starting with the met and will eventually move up to a 750cc motorcycle. I plan on taking the riders course this fall allthough I have plenty of time, because I plan on riding the met till its paid off, 2 years.

I ride because I have to, I have no other choice. if I didn't ride my ruckus would get lonely an scoot away. the rsx doesn't mind because shes a big girl, but little RuckWild is too sensitive to leave alone.

how true sdg i dont know who will go thru bigger withdrawals come winter me or the zuma
i got her because of gas prices my explorer 18mpg and my firebird 6mpg with a commute of 30 miles one way $4 a gallon can kill a guy and as a compromise my wife didnt want me to have a motorcycle i sold my last bike before meeting her
but as i rode her home it brought back the fond memories of 2 wheels back to when i learned to ride on a moped and my first trail 90
there is nothing like the feeling you get on 2 wheels off in your own little world nothing between you and the air you breath

"Four wheels moves the body but, two wheels moves the soul" From "Zen and the Art of Scootering" That would make a good slogan for the forum, or even would be cool to have as a sticker somewhere on the scooters..
